Today, the second official Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters trailer has landed online, and it shows us many new shots from the upcoming movie!

You can watch the trailer in full below:

The second trailer is just slightly shorter than the first, but it’s jam-packed with all kinds of great looks at characters, creatures, and locations.

It starts off with Percy saying, “I heard there’s a prophecy about me?” That, of course, references, the prophecy about how he will make it to twenty against all odds. Yes, you read that right — they changed the wording of the prophecy for the movie, since the characters are slightly aged up.

Chiron, played by Anthony Stewart Head, who replaced Pierce Brosnan, then says, “It seems that the prophecy was referring to our annihilation.” We then see a Colchis Bull attacking the camp and causing havoc.

Throughout the rest of the trailer, we get some great sequences from the likes of Stanley Tucci, playing Dionysus, and Nathan Fillion, who is playing Hermes. We also see Thalia turning into a tree — a tree which will be poisoned near the beginning of the film.

The group’s quest is laid out before them. The only way to save the camp is to find and retrieve the Golden Fleece from the Sea of Monsters. It’s a quest that will take the best minds and the best fighters from Camp Half-Blood. When this is mentioned, we see shots of the main trio, along with Percy’s half-brother Tyson and one of Percy’s adversaries from camp, Clarisse, daughter of Ares.

Sea of Monsters is the sequel to Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, which fans weren’t all too happy with when it came out in 2010. However, the team behind Sea of Monsters has promised fans the follow-up film will be much more loyal to the books, and if the trailers are anything to go by, it certainly does look promising.

Sea of Monsters will release in theatres on August 7.
