The new cover features Percy Jackson standing on the head of a statue of his father, Poseidon. The New York skyline is in the background. Though certainly updated and a little more eye-catching, this cover isn’t strikingly different from the original, which you can see below.

The new covers were created by artist John Rocco, who designed the previous Percy Jackson covers as well. According to the press release, “[Fans will] find out that when these new paperback books are lined up side by side by side, they will reveal one amazing panoramic mural.”

The Lightning Thief is the first book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series and follows the story of demigod Percy Jackson, who finds out he is the son of Poseidon. In The Lightning Thief, Percy must come to terms with being the son of a Greek god while simultaneously rescuing his mother from Hades, who has stolen her to the Underworld.

Riordan has three more books set to be released this year. The first is a short story called “The Staff of Serapis,” which will entail Annabeth Chase meeting Sadie Kane, who is one of the protagonists in Riordan’s Egyptian mythology series, The Kane Chronicles. The short story will release on April 8.

The second book is Percy Jackson and the Greek Gods, debuting on August 19, the day after Percy Jackson’s birthday. The book will be a retelling of the Greek myths in Percy’s voice.

The third book to be released this year is titled The Blood of Olympus and is the final book in the second Percy Jackson series, The Heroes of Olympus. Blood of Olympus will be released on October 7.
