The day that fans have been eagerly awaiting since they were first disappointed by the movies is finally here — a Percy Jackson TV series has been confirmed!

According to Rick Riordan himself, a Percy Jackson TV series is currently in development at Disney+.

Rumors of a Disney+ adaptation of the Percy Jackson series have been brewing since late last year, when author Rick Riordan tweeted that he was in LA working hard to make a TV adaptation of the series a reality.

We hadn’t heard anything much more about the possibility, until earlier this afternoon when Rick Riordan announced on his Twitter account that a Percy Jackson series was indeed on its way.

In a follow-up to the announcement tweet, Riordan thanked Percy Jackson fans for working hard to champion a faithful on-screen adaptation (which we can all agree we never got).

He then stated that they aren’t able to say too much at this stage, but that they are vey excited about having a faithful adaptation that will follow the storyline of the original five book Percy Jackson series, starting with The Lightning Thief.

Rick Riordan assured fans that he would be involved in person at every step of the way, and ended by saying that there was much more news — and much more work — on the way!

Logan Lerman, who played Percy in the movie adaptations, tweeted his support of the project. He also may’ve thrown a little shade at the movies:
