The 2015 People’s Choice Awards nominations have been announced, and old reliable fan-favourite shows are leading the charge!

The People’s Choice Awards are a big deal in the entertainment world because they seem to systematically honour a very different set of films and TV shows than the Oscars and Emmys. But while the Emmys have their repeats every year, so do the PCAs.

This year’s nominees were announced earlier today at the nomination ceremony, which featured an impressive array of TV stars promoting their shows:

With a total of about 50 categories, we won’t list them all here, but you can check out the full list (and begin voting!) at the People’s Choice website.

Movies

The movies categories seem to mainly consist of teen, superhero, and action movies. Shailene Woodley is nominated five times for four awards: “Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress” and “Favorite Action Movie Actress,” as well as taking up two spots for “Favorite Movie Duo” (with Theo James and Ansel Elgort, respectively).

Up for “Favorite Movie,” we’ve got 22 Jump Street, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Maleficent and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The “Favorite Action Movies” category features three of the same nominees: Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy and X-Men: Days of Future Past. Also nominated are The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Divergent.

And yes, The Fault in Our Stars is up for an award too, nominated in the “Favorite Dramatic Movie” category alongside The Giver, Heaven Is for Real, If I Stay and Noah.

In “Favorite Comedic Movies” we’ve got 22 Jump Street again, along with Blended, Let’s Be Cops, Neighbors and The Other Woman.

Television

The television section honours old favourites The Vampire Diaries and Grey’s Anatomy with six nods each, across a variety of categories. Once Upon a Time, Supernatural, Castle and Bones also have an impressive amount of nominations.

It’s nice to see these shows so celebrated by The People, considering that none of them have ever won a Primetime Emmy for Best Drama/Comedy.

The People’s Choice nominees for “Favorite TV Show” are The Big Bang Theory, Game Of Thrones, NCIS, Once Upon a Time and The Walking Dead. The odd one out here seems to be NCIS — do you think it stands a chance against the power of the other fandoms?!

The “Favorite Cable Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show” is also noteworthy, as its nominees are American Horror Story, Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead and newcomer Outlander. All fantastic, rich and hugely popular shows — we honestly can’t predict the outcome of this one!

Network Sci-Fi/Fantasy shows nominated are Beauty and the Beast, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Once Upon a Time, Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries.

Up for “Favorite TV Comedy” are 2 Broke Girls, The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, Mom and New Girl.

Netflix’s Orange is the New Black is up in “Favorite Dramedy,” along with Awkward, Suits, White Collar and Shameless.

Music

Finally, musical artists Blake Shelton, Ed Sheeran, John Legend, Pharrell Williams and Sam Smith are being honoured in the “Favorite Male Artists” category, while the female contenders are Beyoncé, Iggy Azalea, Katy Perry, Sia and Taylor Swift.

“Favorite Group” nominees are all male bands this year: Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Maroon 5, One Direction and OneRepublic.

It might come as a bit of a surprise that Taylor Swift’s much-hyped 1989 album is not nominated for “Favorite Album,” but perhaps it was released after the decision was finalized? Swifties (and everyone else) can instead choose between G I R L by Pharrell Williams, Ghost Stories by Coldplay, In the Lonely Hour by Sam Smith My Everything by Ariana Grande and X by Ed Sheeran.

“Favorite Song” nominees are “All About That Bass” by Meghan Trainor, “Bang Bang” by Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj, “Maps” by Maroon 5, “Stay with Me” by Sam Smith, and yes, “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift.

Whoa! Got all that? Good, cause there’s a lot more where that came from.

Go ahead and vote your hearts out.

The live People’s Choice Awards ceremony will air on CBS on Wednesday, January 7, at 9/8c. It’ll be hosted by ‘Mom’ stars Allison Janney and Anna Faris.
