Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian series has officially landed its lead actor in Game of Thrones and Narcos alum Pedro Pascal.

More exciting news has emerged from The Mandalorian, the new Star Wars series on Disney+, Disney’s new streaming service. In addition to a truly impressive lineup of directors for the series, we also know who one of the show’s lead actors will be. It has been announced that Pedro Pascal will be playing the lead bounty hunter in the Jon Favreau-penned series.

As Variety reports, The Mandalorian is set after the defeat of the Empire in Return of the Jedi but before the First Order comes to power in The Force Awakens. The show’s title is, of course, referencing the warrior tribe that iconic bounty hunter Boba Fett and his father, Jango Fett hailed from.

Unsurprisingly, there isn’t a great deal of information available on Pascal’s part in the show. However, we can assume that since he’s being reported as the show’s lead actor, that he is the “lone gunfighter” referenced in the show’s synopsis.

It’s been rumored for some time that Pascal would be joining The Mandalorian, so we’re excited that his casting has officially been announced. After all, this won’t be Pascal’s first rodeo when it comes to a television show that’s a part of a major franchise. Though he has an extensive resume, most recently starring in Netflix’s Narcos and the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984, Pascal won many of our hearts as Oberyn Martell on Game of Thrones.

With excellent talent behind the camera and the makings of a great cast in front of the camera, The Mandalorian is shaping up to be a truly exciting part of the Star Wars universe. Be sure to check back here for more Star Wars news as it breaks!
