Elizabeth Banks will soon be bringing an adaptation of Red Queen to Peacock.

According to Deadline, NBC’s streaming platform, Peacock, is currently in the process of developing an adaptation of Red Queen.

Based off of author Victoria Aveyard’s best selling young adult fantasy novel of the same name, the book centers on Mare Barrow— “Red” citizen teenager living in a dystopian version of America where democracy has been traded for a monarchy run by “Silver” citizens. Silvers posses silver blood that grants them certain supernatural powers, which they used to rule over the Red citizens, who are quite literally powerless.

The streamer has tapped Elizabeth Banks to serve as a director on the forthcoming series.

In addition to helming the Red Queen series adaptation, Banks is also set to star in the show in some capacity.

Details with regards to who Elizabeth Banks might play have not yet been disclosed, but it’s being reported that she’ll be taking on a character considered to be a major supporting role.

Behind the camera, the series has recruited Beth Schwartz (who previously served as showrunner on The CW’s Arrow) to serve as showrunner. In addition, Schwartz will also co-write the series alongside Aveyard herself.

Producers on the project include Banks and Max Handleman, who will produce via their Brownstone Productions. Schwartz and Aveyard will also serve as executive producers on the project.

Currently, there’s no word on when we might expect to see Red Queen debut via Peacock.
