Peacock’s Girls5eva has found its newest cast member in Andrew Rannells.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tony Award nominee Andrew Rannells has officially signed on to appear in Peacock’s forthcoming musical comedy, Girls5eva.

Created by Meredith Scardino (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), the series centers on a one-hit wonder girl group from the 90s who finds themselves getting a second chance when their music gets sampled by a young rapper.

It’s then that Girls5eva’s original members find themselves reuniting for another chance at stardom— this time while also trying to juggle spouses, kids, jobs, debt, and the aches and pains of getting older.

For the series, Rannells has been cast in a recurring role. Specifically he’ll play Kevin, the spouse of Girls5eva member, Summer (Busy Phillipps). Kevin also happens to be a former member of the boy band, Boyz Next Door. Back in the day, he and Summer ruled the red carpet as pop star couple royalty, but their lives are far from perfect in the present day.

Andrew Rannells joins Sara Bareilles, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Busy Phillipps, and Paula Pell, all of whom are on board to play members of the girl group in question.

Behind the camera, Kat Coiro has been tapped to serve as director on the pilot for the Peacock original series. Meanwhile, Tina Fey, Robert Carlock, Jeff Richmond, David Miner, and Eric Gurian all serve as executive producers on the project.

All eight episodes of Girls5eva will be available to stream exclusively via Peacock on May 6.
