A series based on Field of Dreams is officially in the works over at Peacock.
According to Deadline, Peacock has given a straight to series order for a brand new series based on Field of Dreams.
The Oscar nominated baseball drama first premiered in theaters in 1989 and found Kevin Costner starring as an Iwoa farmer who finds himself inspired by a disembodied voice to turn his cornfield into a baseball field where dreams can come true.
The newly announced Field of Dreams Peacock series hails from The Good Place creator Mike Schur, and plans to reimagine the core themes of the movie for the small screen.
In a statement announcing the series adaptation, NBCUniversal executive Lisa Katz spoke of why the streamer is excited to turn to Field of Dreams as inspiration for its next original series.

“Through the years, Field of Dreams has remained a fan favorite, maintaining its rightful position in the zeitgeist. It’s whimsical and grounded, a space where Mike Schur excels, and we’re looking forward to bringing a new version of this classic to Peacock.”
The newly ordered Peacock series comes hot on the heels of the MLB’s Field of Dreams game between the New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox.
The game, which aired just last week on Fox, took place on an 8,000 seat ballpark out in Dyersville, Iowa where the movie was filmed.
Currently, there’s no word on when we might expect to see Peacock’s Field of Dreams series debut via the streamer.
