When you’re a legendary singer like Beatles alum Paul McCartney, you can do whatever you want and no one will think twice about it.

Today we’re learning that Paul is joining the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie starring Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Brenton Thwaites, Javier Bardem, Geoffrey Rush, and Kaya Scodelario. No — stop. Don’t you dare judge Paul for this. He’s PAUL. You’re not allowed to question any decision he makes.

According to Deadline, the cast and crew “have gone back to add an extra big set-piece scene” involving Paul McCartney. Says the report, “All I was told is that this is not a re-shoot, but rather an extra scene, and that there is plenty of time to add it because the film isn’t being released until May 26, 2017.”

Stop! I said stop judging!

Worried that this is a last-ditch effort to make this movie interesting? Adds Deadline, “the studio is bullish on the first film in the series to be helmed by [directing duo Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg], and […] insiders likened it to the spirit of the first one in the series.”

There’s no additional information to share on what Paul McCartney will be doing in Pirates 5 which is titled Dead Men Tell No Tales. At 73 years old (and looking just as good as Johnny Depp, honestly) we could see the singer being turned into a pirate to interact with Jack Sparrow.

This wouldn’t be the first time a legendary rock star joined the Pirates series. Remember: Rolling Stones co-founder Keith Richards appeared as Captain Teague, Jack Sparrows’ father, in previous installments:

It’s good to hear that the movie may actually be good (and that Orlando Bloom is back!). While many of us are probably eager to see another Pirates installment since it’s been so long, our patience in the theater will quickly run out if this is another sub-par installment.

Pirates 5 hits theaters next summer. It’ll arrive six years after the less-than-great On Stranger Tides opened in 2011.
