Yep, you read that right! Broadway legend Patti LuPone will be making a guest appearance on the next season of Penny Dreadful. But as who?

Wondering who the great legend will play in this period piece? According to Showtime, LuPone will play “a mysterious character of great importance in Vanessa’s (Eva Green) past.” It’ll be great to see LuPone in Penny Dreadful and we sincerely hope she sings at least a little bit, perhaps.

Additionally, British actors Helen McCory (Madame Kali) and Simon Russell Beale (Ferdinand Lyle) have been promoted to series regulars for season 2 of Penny Dreadful. We only got glimpses of their characters this season, but you can bet we’ll be seeing way more of them next year, as Madam Kali will be the show’s main antagonist for the season.

In fact, you can view a deleted scene from season 1’s last episode featuring Beale and McCory that showcases just how much of an antagonist Madame Kali will be, and how unwilling Ferdidnand is to the whole thing:

And LuPone isn’t the only guest star already set for next season. Douglas Hodge is signed on as Bartholomew Rusk, an intense Scotland Yard investigator on the hunt to discover who is responsible for the terrible murders that have been plaguing London. Sarah Greene will come on to play Hecate, Poole’s powerful daughter and Jonny Beauchamp is set to portray a young man with a singular past.

All in all, season 2 of Penny Dreadful is bound to be amazing just from these guest stars alone!

Are you excited to see Patti LuPone on ‘Penny Dreadful’ season 2?

Or are you…dreading it? Okay, we won’t do that again – but let us know if you’re looking forward to see the Broadway legend!
