NBC has announced that Parks and Recreation will be returning for a seventh season next year.

NBC Chairman Bob Greenblatt announced to a room of TV critics at the Television Critics Association press tour that Parks and Recreation will be renewed for a seventh season, according to a Deadline report.

Greenblatt initially said that he was “bullish” on a another season of the show, but then went a step further and just confirmed that “Parks & Recreation is going to have a seventh season.”

It may not be as reassuring as an official press release, but as Chairman, Greenblatt’s word is law at NBC. Parks and Rec season 7 likely just needs some final touches before it’s formally announced.

The renewal came on the heels of the announcement that NBC inked a three-year production deal with Amy Poehler, similar to the one they arranged with Tina Fey shortly before the 30 Rock series finale. The first project produced by Poehler, tentatively titled Old Soul has already been picked up by NBC and will star Orange is the New Black’s Natasha Lyonne as an aid to a colorful group or elderly people.

Season 6 of Parks and Recreation has been a season of transition with Leslie losing her job and Rob Lowe and Rashida Jones set to leave the cast midseason. A seventh season could potentially look quite different, similar to the changes in cast and plot direction between season 2 and season 3 when Rob Lowe and Adam Scott replaced Paul Schneider and the Parks department embarked on a Harvest festival.

It’s a good time to be a sitcom with an established fan base on NBC as the network continues to opt for sure things, even if the ratings may be low as in Parks and Recreation’s case.
