NBC has released the first trailer for Parks and Rec season 7. Get ready for life in the distant future of 2017.

Parks and Rec creator, Michael Schur, is a fan of Battlestar Galactica’s famous season two time-jump (like most correctly-thinking people). In a post season 6 interview, he even admitted to borrowing the specific style of Battlestar’s time jump for Parks and Rec’s season 6 finale.

Now NBC by way of Entertainment Weekly has provided us with our first teaser at Parks and Rec season 7 and it looks like the time jump isn’t the only thing Parks and Rec is borrowing from BSG. April’s a Cylon! Just kidding, there’s a futuristic drone and glass tablet thing-y. Check it out below:

As the season 6 finale implied, Parks and Rec season 7 will take a three year time jump all the way to 2017. Things are a lot more future-y than we would have guessed. But in addition to the drone stalking Leslie and Ben and April scrolling through pictures of puppies on a sophisticated tablet (it’s nice to know that no matter what technology exists, we’ll always primarily use it as a puppy and kitten picture delivery device), the rest of the characters are in some pretty advanced places.

Andy has his own Johnny Karate TV show! Tom is a true mogul! And Jerry is now Terry! Something tells us that Ron will still be happily married, grumpily shooing people out of his office and hiding his bacon around the office though.

Parks and Rec season 7 will debut on Tuesday, January 13 and will air two back-to-back episodes each week for the duration of the final season.
