Parks and Recreation season 7, episodes 1 and 2, “2017” and “Ron and Jammy” air tonight at 8:00 p.m. on NBC. Pawnee jumps three years into the future and Jamm makes a grave mistake.

Tonight, Parks and Rec goes where few shows have gone before: 2017. Though that’s understandable, given it’s a fairly random year.*

*Thanks to magic of Wikipedia, however, we can confirm that six films and the epilogue of The Deathly Hallows take place in 2017.

Yes, for its seventh and final season Parks and Rec jumps three years into the future to conclude the story of a weird town and the really energetic lady who loves it. The season 6 finale provided us our first glimpse at what Parks and Rec season 7 would look like with Leslie running a branch of the federal Parks department from Pawnee.

In the premiere, which consists of two episodes “2017” and “Ron and Jammy,” the parks department employees are settling in to new surroundings. Andy has a Johnny Karate TV show, Tom gets to see an old familiar face and Leslie’s haircut is topnotch. Most importantly, Parks and Rec continues its six season streak of getting the real-life Mrs. Offerman involved early on in the season as Megan Mulalley returns as Tammy. The “Jammy” of the second episode’s title refers to the unholy union of Councilman Jamm and Tammy. The world never stood a chance.
