John Hodgman will be heading to Pawnee to guest as an Eagleton radio host in Parks and Rec season 6

Parks and Recreation‘s hometown Pawnee incorporated rival village Eagleton into its charter way back in the beginning of season 6, but aside from Kristen Bell’s Ingrid de Forest taking a city council seat away from Leslie, the two “tribes” haven’t clashed much yet.

That may change with the introduction of John Hodgman as a Eagletonian radio host to clash with Pawnee’s resident NPR-esque radio host of Thoughts for Your Thoughts, Derry Murbles (as played by The Simpsons’ Dan Castellanetta).

According to EW, Hodgman will be playing August Clementine and is forced to combine his radio program with Murbles’ now that the towns have merged.

You may remember Derry Murbles from season 4, episode 3 “Born and Raised” where Leslie appeared on his program and learned there was a rumor she was not born in Pawnee, and season 5, episode 8 “Pawnee Commons” where Leslie does not want to hire a park designer from Eagleton. It seems that Murbles always pops up during examples of the Pawnee-Eagleton rivalry and this should be the biggest.

Hodgman has actually appeared on public radio several times, including National Public Radio’s This American Life – the likely inspiration for Parks and Rec’s Thoughts for Your Thoughts.

Hodgman has also previously appeared in Parks and Rec’s fellow NBC sitcoms 30 Rock and Community.
