Those itching to see Top Gun: Maverick take fight will have to wait a bit longer to do so.
According to Deadline, Paramount has once again pushed back the release date of its Top Gun sequel, Top Gun: Maverick.
The sequel, which is set to find Tom Cruise returning to reprise his role as Maverick, was originally set to hit theaters in June of last year.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, however, Paramount opted to push the film’s release back to December 2020. Ongoing theater closures found the studio opting to push the release of the sequel back yet again to November 19, 2021.

On Wednesday (September 1), however, Paramount threw cinephiles for a loop when it announced that Top Gun: Maverick would now be hitting theaters next year on May 27, 2022— nearly two years later than it was expected to debut.
Others set to star opposite Cruise in the highly anticipated sequel include John Hamm, Ed Harris, Lewis Pullman, Monica Barbaro, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Glen Powell, and Val Kilmer, who will reprise his role as Iceman from the first film.
Behind the camera, Joseph Kosinski serves as director, while Jerry Bruckheimer is on board to produce.
Top Gun: Maverick is set to fly onto the big screen on May 27, 2022.
