The First Wives Club is officially headed to the small screen thanks to Paramount Network. The studio just announced that they’re officially adapting the hit ’90s film for television.

According to Variety, Paramount Network has officially ordered a television reboot of First Wives Club.

The new series is set to be a half-hour comedy, with the first season being comprised of 10 episodes total.

Based off the hit 1996 film which starred Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler, and Diane Keaton, the series will center on a group of women residing in New York who come together after their respective marriages fall apart. Together, the form a lasting bond, finding strength amongst each other, and even extract a little revenge on their husbands in the process.

The network has tapped Tracy Oliver to write and executive produce the new series. Oliver’s most recent credit includes co-writing the script for Girls Trip, so it’s clear she definitely knows a thing or two when it comes to writing about female buddy comedies.

In fact, though the series will be based off Paramount’s 1996 property, which in turn was based off of Olivia Goldsmith’s book of the same name, execs at the network are looking to Oliver to use her creativity to put a modern twist on First Wives Club.

“Girls Trip was one of the funniest comedies in recent memory and we know Tracy will breathe new life, and some serious laughs, into these beloved First Wives Club characters,” said president of Paramount TV, Amy Powell.

Production on the new series is set to start up in the summer of 2018 in New York City, with Paramount Networks eyeing a 2019 release for the series.
