A Quiet Place was a huge, surprise success for Paramount, so it’s no surprise that a sequel has been greenlit less than a month since its theatrical release.

Directed by John Krasinski, and starring Krasinski alongside his real-life wife, Emily Blunt, A Quiet Place has been one of the biggest cinematic surprises of the year. The film not only managed to be an incredibly successful horror flick, but the heart behind the story–the drama of a family trying to live in the midst of the unthinkable–is what really took A Quiet Place from being just another great horror film to something much more.

Naturally, Paramount wanted to continue to capitalize on A Quiet Place‘s popularity and didn’t waste any time at all talking about a sequel. Though the film just premiered on April 6, Paramount Chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos announced at CinemaCon on Wednesday that a sequel is currently being worked on.

Of course, it’s not surprising to hear that Paramount is not going to be quick to bid farewell to the buzz and money that A Quiet Place is pulling in. The movie was the second-biggest debut of 2018, and it has a 95% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It’s quite the accolade for a film that is less than a month old.

The sequel talks are still in very early stages, so Gianopulos didn’t provide many other details about the sequel plans–including whether or not John Krasinski would be back in any capacity. Still, we hope that in this sequel, they’re able to not only create another spine-tingling movie but will also keep the emotional core that made this movie connect so profoundly with audiences. We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more news about the sequel as it breaks!
