Paper Towns author John Green announced via Twitter today that the film adaptation of his novel will be directed by Jake Schreier.
Green tweeted Thursday afternoon:
EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT: The Paper Towns movie will be directed by the brilliant @jakeschreier, who previously made "Robot and Frank."

I'm so psyched that Jake is directing Paper Towns. The script (by TFIOS' writers) is amazing, and Nat Wolff is Q, and IT'S REALLY HAPPENING.

As the author mentioned, Schreier’s only major film is 2012’s Robot & Frank which starred Frank Langella, James Marsden, Susan Sarandon, and Liv Tyler.
Paper Towns will hit theaters July 31, 2015. It has a script by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, the same screenwriting team behind this year’s wildly successful film The Fault in Our Stars.
Paper Towns will star Nat Wolff (Isaac in Fault) as Q. An actress for the role of Margo has not been named, but now that we have a director, that information may be coming soon. In the mean time, you can see which actresses we think should take on the pivotal role.
In somewhat related news, Green’s other popular YA novel Looking For Alaska is in development at a different studio with Sarah Polley attached to write and direct. Alaska does not have a release date at this time.
