About ‘Paper Princess’

Ella Harper is handling it. Life after her mother’s death has just gotten more complicated by the minute, but Ella will find a way to make her life better. She will drag herself out of the gutter and make something of her life, even if she has to claw away at it with her bare hands.

Enter Callum Royal. Best friend to the father Ella never knew, Callum plucks Ella from her hard life and gives her everything she’s never had. He moves her into his mansion and is desperate for her to become a part of his world. His five sons, on the other hand, are not eager to move her in and call her a part of the family. Reed, Easton, Gideon, Sebastian and Sawyer do not make life easy for Ella as they try to decipher what her agenda is. They don’t know who they’re up against, though, because she is not one to back down from a fight.

Will Ella win over the Royal boys? Will they succeed in running her out of their lives? Find out in Paper Princess, book one of Erin Watt’s new series, The Royals.

‘Paper Princess’ book review

This book comes out swinging. Ella is no damsel in distress. Life without her mother isn’t easy, but she gets by, and someday she will make a better life for herself. She basically lives by the ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’ mentality, and that doesn’t stop just because she finds herself living a life she never could have imagined. Callum Royal may have walked into her life and given her a bed, hot meals, and the money to be whomever she wants, but he basically transplanted her from one battlefield to another.

Ella doesn’t struggle to get by anymore, but instead she must fight Callum Royal’s sons for respect. They think she’s playing them, and playing their father. They don’t care for her story, and they don’t want to get to know her. It’s a battle of wills, and both sides are strong contenders.

Seconds after seeing all the Royals for the first time, it’s immediately clear to both Ella and the reader that Reed Royal poses the biggest threat. Sure, his brothers don’t make her life easy, but Reed goes out of his way to make sure Ella knows how unwanted she is by the five of them. He thinks she has ulterior motives regarding his father, and he isn’t at all interested in knowing who Ella is underneath. That is, until Easton gives her a chance.

Easton, the middle child, the sensible one, turns this from Ella’s battle against the Royals, to Ella’s journey to find where she fits into this new world. He’s the first to see what the others can’t: Ella isn’t the enemy. His kindness goes a long way to proving that the Royals aren’t all bad. They just take a long time to warm up to new people.

This story will have you turning pages with a ferocity you never have experienced before. It’s addicting and twisted in all the best ways. Ella is a spitfire, and the Royal men are headstrong and stubborn. Watching them figure out exactly where each other fits into their new world order is intriguing, exciting, and downright exhilarating.

You’ll be riveted down to the final line of the book, and will begin scouring the internet for any news as to when we can expect book two to hit shelves. This story demands to be read, and thankfully, that’s one demand I am happy to consent to. Over and over again. There is definitely a re-read in this reader’s future, as I just can’t get enough of this family. Ella brings an energy that the Royal family desperately needed, and the ending of this book will have you desperate to know where they go from here. There is so much story yet to tell that we will now begin counting down the days til Broken Prince, book two in The Royals series, hits our shelves and e-readers on July 25. The Royals didn’t manage to kill Ella’s spirit in Paper Princess, so we can’t wait to see how much stronger she’ll become.

Paper Princess is available now on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Indiebound. Grab yourselves a copy of this incredible story and learn exactly what it takes to be a Royal.
