Paddington 3 is officially on the horizon, meaning that fans of the marmalade loving bear can look forward to more adventures with the beloved character on the big screen.

News of the threequel’s development comes from Variety, who reports that representatives for Studiocanal have confirmed that Paddington 3 is officially in the works.

“We can confirm Studiocanal is working very hard on film 3 with the utmost craft and care— as with film 1 and 2,” the studio told the outlet on Wednesday (February 17).

Unfortunately, fans itching to know more about what Paddington 3 will focus on will have to sit tight. Currently, there aren’t any plot details for the film floating around.

Rumors of a threequel have been swirling since 2018 when Paddington producer David Heyman teased that there have already been some talks behind the scenes.

“I hope we get to make it. It’s a really fun, it’s a fun idea,” Heyman told Collider at the time. “I don’t know yet. I don’t want to do it if I don’t think It’s gonna be good.”

Regardless of what the third movie focuses on, one thing we do know is that Paddington 3 will have to carry on without the direction of Paul King.

King, who directed the first two installments of the hit family features, currently has his plate full between helming Disney’s live-action Pinocchio as well as Warner Brothers’ Willy Wonka prequel, Wonka.

Though King won’t be directing, it sounds as though he’ll still be involved behind the scenes. Heyman has hinted as much in the past, and additionally, King himself has stated that he intends to stay on as an executive producer.

Currently, there’s no word on when we might expect to see Paddington 3 premiere on the big screen— but we’ll certainly be excited to find out more news about the movie as it moves further and further into production!
