John Boyega is already set to star in Pacific Rim 2, and now the sequel to the original hit film has landed its leading lady.

Guillermo del Toro’s beloved film, Pacific Rim, was lucky enough to land everyone’s favorite new human being John Boyega, but the movie wasn’t fully cast yet. It still needed a kickass lady in a leading role.

According to Variety, that role has gone to Cailee Spaeny.

Don’t worry if you don’t recognize her name. She’s a pop singer and actress who’s fairly unknown at the moment (but not for long!). She’s been in the indie film Counting to 1000 and will next be seen as a cashier in the film Shoes.

The studio and everyone involved know how important Pacific Rim 2 is to the fans, so if they’re casting an unknown actress in such a major role, chances are she really wowed them during auditions.

We don’t know much about the upcoming sequel, which is officially titled Pacific Rim: Maelstrom, other than it stars Boyega as Stacker Pentecost’s (Idris Elba) son. The film will also star Scott Eastwood in an unknown but “key” role.

Guillermo del Toro stepped down as director of the sequel after helming the first movie, but has stayed on as an executive producer. Steven S. DeKnight, who gave us that awesome first season of Daredevil on Netflix, will be in the director’s chair this time around.

Pacific Rim 2 won’t hit theaters until 2018, but it’s already shaping up to be quite the spectacle.
