On Outlander season 1, episode 13 tonight it looks like things are as tumultuous as usual.

Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) only just arrived at Lallybroch, and reconciled with Ian and Jenny, when things got complicated all over again. Last week’s cliffhanger showed Jamie being held at gunpoint while Claire observed the action from an upstairs balcony.

The official synopsis of the episode reads, “Jamie finds himself between a rock and a hard place when a redcoat deserter from his past resurfaces. Claire tends to a laboring Jenny while Jamie and Ian join The Watch on an ambush, resulting in devastating consequences.”

From the video below, Jamie obviously manages to get out of whatever caused the gun waving, but it looks like Jamie is hitting the road again. Considering Jamie still has a price on his head, since the Duke of Sandringham’s pardon has not as of yet come through, heading out on the road is not exactly a safe proposition. Under the circumstances, Jamie would only risk leaving if there were no choice. Especially with Jenny (Laura Donnelly) in labor, what makes Ian (Steven Cree) and Jamie join The Watch?

Now if things weren’t bad enough for Jamie, it seems that Jenny’s pregnancy has hit a complication. In the video below, Claire indicates that Jenny is about to have a breech birth. Breech births may be more easily dealt with in the 21st century if complications arise, but in the 18th century a breech birth could easily mean a slow and painful death for both child and mother.
