Outlander isn’t back until April 4, 2015, but a new teaser featuring a knife to a naked Jamie’s throat threatens that darker tales are ahead.

The darker storyline won’t be much of a mystery to book fans, but nonetheless it’s nice to know that the actors and showrunners have an appreciation of the gravity of what is to come.

The new teaser features several scenes. There’s also commentary provided by executive producer Ron Moore, Graham McTavish who plays Dougal MacKenzie, Sam Heughan who plays Jamie Fraser, and Caitriona Balfe who plays Claire Randall Fraser.

Jamie starts off by warning Claire, “These are dangerous times mo nighean donn (my brown-haired lass). Be careful.”

Next up is Jamie engaged in a sword fight, in formal dress, that we have previously seen in other footage.

Don’t blink or you’ll miss her. A person who seems to be the ever mysterious Gellis Duncan is dancing in an opaque and flimsy dress before a bonfire. It’s anyone’s guess what she’s holding in the air. Footage of her repeats again towards the end.

The real gem of the collection is a naked (as far as we can see) Jamie with a knife to his throat.

As Sam Heughan begins his narration, we see Jamie and Claire fleeing through a fortress on a catwalk and on a staircase as gunfire erupts around them.

Executive producer Ron Moore’s narration promises that the Jamie, Claire, and Jack Randall situation will “…come to a head.” Right after, we see an extension of the scene where we left off in the fall. Jamie has fully entered the room and is now threatening Black Jack Randall.

Graham McTavish talks about how the second half of the series builds on the momentum of the first. Dougal is seen talking to Colum MacKenzie angrily stating that, “I’ve proved my loyalty to you time and again.” The two men stare each other down.

Immediately after, various scenes of Jamie and Claire expressing their love are viewed, some old and some new. Caitriona Balfe promises that from Castle Leoch to Lallybroch fans will love what is in store.

The footage continues with Gellis Duncan squaring off with Claire. She screams, “No more lies!” demanding to know why Claire is in Scotland.

Lastly we have a series of images: Claire peering up from a grate, Claire holding what seems to be a baby in the woods, and Gellis manically dancing by bonfire light.

Sam Heughan promises, “It’s a lot darker, so tune in.”

Outlander returns April 4, 2015 on Starz.
