Outlander wraps its fall season this Saturday, but it will be back in April to conclude season 1.

Viewers can bet that when Outlander airs on Starz this Saturday, episode 8 will end on some sort of cliffhanger. They are going to have to do something big, because it will be a long seven months until the series returns on April 4, 2015.

Author of the series Diana Gabaldon knew that fans would have a tough time with the extended wait. On her Facebook page, she posted the following message: “Don’t shoot the messenger…”

According to director Matt Roberts, the series just wrapped filming season 1 in Scotland this week. It’s now off to the editing rooms before they begin filming on season 2, based upon the book Drangonfly in Amber, which has already been greenlit. It’s likely that season 2 will begin in fall 2015, but no firm time-frame has been released beyond season 1.

Starz released some impressive statistics concerning the series today: “‘Outlander’s’ highly anticipated wedding episode delivered the highest ratings of the season with 3.8 million live,” they said. This is quite a score for Starz, whose PR department went on to state their viewership rates for the series were up over 40% since its premiere. Season 1 is currently averaging 5 million viewers per episode to date.

To keep Outlander fans happy while they wait out the long seven months until April 4, 2015, Hypable will be launching a regular feature called Sassenach Saturdays, which will look back on the series, make some predictions, and generally celebrate everything Outlander.
