Out of the Furnace stars Christian Bale as man out to save his younger brother from the likes of Woody Harrelson. Check out the first full length trailer for the film.

Bale plays Russell Baze, a man living in a blue collar Pennsylvania town with his girlfriend (Zoe Saldana) and caring for his sick father (Sam Shepard). His younger brother Rodney (Casey Affleck) returns home from a tour in Iraq and gets mixed up with Harrelson’s slimy character before mysteriously disappearing.

Being the loyal older brother that he is, Russell goes on a dangerous mission to find Rodney by any means necessary.

The cast is rounded out by Willem Dafoe and Forrest Whittaker. Highlights of the trailer include Bale’s proficiency at a rust belt dialect and a song written and performed specifically for the move by Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder.

The first official poster for the film was released yesterday, featuring Bale beneath the tagline, “Sometimes your battles choose you.”

Writing and directing is actor-writer Scott Cooper, whose only other directing credit is the critically acclaimed Crazy Heart. Jeff Bridges won an academy award for his starring turn in that film.

The film has a slew of high profile producers, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Ridley Scott, and the late Tony Scott. DiCaprio was actually considered to play the lead before Bale was cast.

The production was mostly filmed on location in Pennsylvania and West Virginia in the spring of 2012.

Out of the Furnace will go into limited release on Nov. 27, before opening up in wide release on Dec. 6.
