We all make them: New Year’s resolutions. This year the Hypable staff members have made some fandom inspired New Year’s resolutions. Now let’s see if the staff members actually keep them!

Our resolutions range from shows we intend to start watching, to getting over fandom disappointment, to shows we promise to stop reading spoilers before watching. Can you believe that Selina has never seen Sherlock? Will Sonya and Pamela ever forgive the BBC, and will Kristen ever forgive ITV and Dan Stevens? Will Louie go blind watching everything he’s missed? Check out the full resolutions below.

‘The Walking Dead’

Laura: I resolve to watching The Walking Dead in real time. No more reading the recap post like a total coward and then watching. I’ll be the one huddled in a catatonic ball of terror come February.

‘Doctor Who’

Caitlin, Louie and Jimmy: We all resolve to start/get caught up on the current season of Doctor Who.

How will we know when they catch up? Perhaps the loud sobbing and sloppy tears when they get to The Angels Take Manhattan?

A Song of Fire and Ice, Game of Thrones

Tariq: I resolve to finish the A Song of Ice and Fire series.

Gabrielle, Louie: We resolve to start watching Game of Thrones.

Marama: One of mine is to keep reading the A Song of Ice and Fire books even though I have been completely spoiled on EVERYONE WHO DIES (still have some pent up anger about this).

Rachel: Also, I would like to finish reading A Song of Ice and Fire. I’ve only read the first one and a little bit of A Clash of Kings. We should just list the staff members who want to read all Ice and Fire books, and I propose we do a book club to force us to do it.

Perhaps when they finally finish some time around November someone can bake them a lamprey pie with a side order of honeyed locusts to celebrate?

Movies We Are Embarrassed To Admit We Haven’t Seen

No more smiling and nodding and pretending we’ve seen these films, or faking like we understand the pop culture references. Here’s what we are actually going to catch up on.

Karen: I resolve to watch The Godfather and Fight Club and Scarface and Star Wars. I’m so ashamed. (Note: after Karen fessed up about Star Wars Tariq and Kristina both admitted to not having seen Star Wars either.)

Kristen: I want to finally watch Mad Men and all of the classic movies that I always avoid telling people I haven’t watched (ie. The Godfather, Citizen Kane, Pulp Fiction).

Laura: So, I should probably watch Iron Man, Spiderman (I haven’t seen any version ever), and Batman. In my defense, I did watch The Avengers.

Merlin

Sonya: My resolution would be to suck up my anger at the Merlin creators and get going on Season 5.

Pamela: I resolve to figure out how to stop CRYING over the series finale of Merlin! My other one is catch up on The Vampire Diaries.

Sherlock

Imagine our surprise when we discovered that not only had our fearless leader not watched all of Sherlock, but neither had Jimmy or Selina. Yes, they are aware there are only a grand total of six episodes. We aren’t sure how they’re not Sher-locked already either.

Andrew: I resolve to finish watching Sherlock, which has been on my bucketlist for a while. I also want to read the Divergent series (currently working through the first one). In general, I want to see more movies, and read more up-and-coming YA lit.

Jimmy: I resolve to finish Doctor Who and get going on Sherlock. Just have a general Moffat-fest.

Selina: I resolve to watch Sherlock and Teen Wolf!

LOST

Catching up on an old series, especially one as good as LOST is a great idea. On the other hand, Natalie might need to give up the Internet.

Natalie: My resolution is to watch LOST without looking up any spoilers!

Tariq: I wanna to start Supernatural, Sherlock, and LOST!

Once Upon a Time

Rachel: I would like to watch Firefly, and make it a point to stick with Once Upon a Time. I love it, but I always seem to stay an episode or so behind. I still haven’t watched the midseason finale.

Anna: I want to start watching Once Upon A Time, and also get around to watching The Wire for the first time and see what all the fuss is about.

So that’s our list. How many of our resolutions match your own? Any fandom resolutions of your own?
