Seth MacFarlane has not only confirmed that he was asked to host the 2014 Oscars, but he also revealed he’s turned the invitation down.

The 2013 Oscars host and creator of Family Guy and Ted took to his Twitter Monday morning to make the announcement.

MacFarlane then sent out a follow-up tweet in which he made suggestions for 2014 Oscar hosts:

The 2013 Academy Award host was able to bring the show’s ratings up when compared to the past couple of ceremonies. Some credited the younger audience MacFarlane attracts for the higher ratings.

As indicated in his tweets above, 2013 producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron will be returning for the 86th annual Academy Awards. Their attachment to the project led many to assume that MacFarlane was very likely in talks to host again.

What’s keeping the actor, director, and writer busy? A sequel to Ted is reportedly in the works, and he’s working on a new western for release next year titled A Million Ways to Die in the West. It will star Amanda Seyfried, Charlize Theron, Liam Neeson, Neil Patrick Harris, and Sarah Silverman.
