Leading up to tomorrow’s big night, we wanted to showcase our favorite Oscar-winning speeches throughout recent memory! Did your favorite speech make the list?

There’s no doubt that one of the highlights of Oscar night is seeing the reaction of the winners. We get to watch as cinematic history is made every year live on television. In fact, this year, Hypable will be attending the Academy Awards and will have tons of great coverage of Hollywood’s favorite night.

So, while we have to wait to see if Jennifer Lawrence will talk about how she thinks acting is “stupid” if she wins for Silver Linings Playbook, we can look back at some of the more memorable, funny, sad, sentimental, beautiful speeches from Oscar nights past! Here are our top 5 Oscar-winning speeches in no particular order:

Julia Roberts – Best Actress (for ‘Erin Brokovich,’ 2001)

We love this because she thanks “everyone I’ve ever met in my life,” and then has a weird panicky scream at the end!

Whoopi Goldberg – Best Supporting Actress (for ‘Ghost,’ 1991)

A younger Whoopi’s enthusiasm when she wins and her assertion that she’ll keep on acting made this one of our favorites!

Meryl Streep – Best Actress (for ‘Sophie’s Choice,’ 1983)

There’s no way we could make an Oscar post and not mention Meryl Streep, right? Meryl’s a character, but this one stands out because she dropped her speech on the way to the podium!

Jamie Foxx – Best Actor (for ‘Ray,’ 2005)

Known to be a funny man, actor and musician Jamie Foxx had a particularly moving moment at the end of his speech in 2005.

Halle Berry – Best Actress (for ‘Monster’s Ball,’ 2002)

Though it may not be the best speech of all time, Halle Berry’s emotional reaction to being the first (and to this day, only) black woman to win the Best Actress Oscar in 2002 goes down as maybe the all-time most emotional!

These are just some of our favorite Oscar speeches throughout the show’s history. What are some of your favorites? Leave them in the comments below!

Don’t forget! Hypable will be live (yes LIVE!) at the Academy Awards tomorrow night from Los Angeles! We’ll be live-blogging the winner’s reaction room, as well as recapping with live GIFs! You won’t want to miss our extensive coverage of Hollywood’s BIGGEST night!
