It’s a huge day in the world of sci-fi television, as Tatiana Maslany has finally been nominated for an Emmy.

Orphan Black’s Tatiana Maslany was snubbed at the Emmys every year since the show’s debut in 2013, but it seems like things are changing over at the Academy because we can finally say she’s been nominated!

Emmy nominations were announced Thursday morning, and we’re pretty sure everyone in the world expected Maslany to be snubbed for a third year in a row. So when her name was read by the presenter, our jaws had to be picked up off the floor.

Maslany was nominated this morning for her role as several characters in BBC America’s Orphan Black including Sarah Manning, Cosima Niehaus, Alison Hendrix, Beth Childs, and Rachel Duncan. For the uninitiated: The actress plays several different characters in one show and often in the same scenes — something you rarely see on television today.

This is the first time Maslany has been nominated for an Emmy following her two previous snubs, but not the first time she was nominated for a major award. She was nominated in the Lead Actress category at the 2014 Golden Globes, but House of Cards star Robin Wright took that one home in the end.

Considering Maslany has won countless other awards like the The Critic’s Choice Award, it was only a matter of time until she was nominated for one of TV’s biggest honors.

One of the reasons this nomination is so important is because it has been almost 20 years since a sci-fi show received a nod in the Outstanding Lead Actress category, and that was in 1997 for The X Files. Today’s nomination is a big deal for sci-fi shows around the globe.

You can check out how Maslany performs against herself thanks to this great clip from Orphan Black season 1 which explains how the technical work happens on the show:
