Known for her work on sci-fi drama Orphan Black, Tatiana Maslany will be making her comedy TV debut in NBC’s Parks and Recreation.

Maslany will be joining the cast of Parks and Recreation for a two episode arc, as told by THR.

While details aren’t available, we do know that she’ll be playing the love interest for Aziz Ansari’s character Tom Haverford in episodes five and six of this upcoming season.

Maslany previously won the Critic’s Choice award for leading actress in a drama, as well as the TCA award for individual achievement in drama and the Young Hollywood award for breakout actress.

This sixth season is proving to be a real shake-up for the veteran NBC comedy. It was announced earlier this summer that Rashida Jones, who plays Leslie’s best friend Ann Perkins, and Rob Lowe, who plays the infallible Chris Traeger, will be leaving the show mid-way through this season. Their character story arcs meshed together last season when Anne and Chris entered in a partnership of sorts in the attempt to start a family.

Maslany is also the latest addition in a slew of well-known actors to be joining the show this season. Her predecessors include Ben Schwartz, Kristen Bell, June Diane Raphael, Sam Elliott, Lucy Lawless, Heidi Klum and Henry Winkler.

It will certainly be interesting to see how Maslany, whom we know primarily as a dramatic actor, will preform on this mockumentary of a comedy show. We’re certainly hoping to see her interact with Nick Offerman’s Ron Swanson. Parks and Rec is the lone returning comedy on NBC’s Thursday night line-up, as 30 Rock ended last January, The Office finale was last May, and Community doesn’t have a return date yet.

Are you excited to see Tatiana Maslany in a comedy?

NBC’s Parks and Recreation returns this fall on September 26, while Orphan Black won’t be returning until April of next year.
