For those wondering whether or not Rachel Duncan is going to be returning to the third season of Orphan Black, we finally have an answer. Major season 3 spoiler ahead.

Sometimes you want to wait until the season premiere to find out about those huge cliffhangers, and sometimes you don’t. In this case, we couldn’t help but spoil ourselves on this major plot.

The last time we saw Rachel Duncan was when Sarah was escaping her lab at the DYAD, and with the help of Cosima, Kira and Scott, managed to plunge a pencil into Rachel’s eye. The pencil went pretty deep, and without any mention of her in the past season 3 promotional material, the fandom has started to question whether or not she survived that horrible impaling moment. Directly after the episode aired, even the show creators refused to comment, obviously wanting to keep the suspense going, but their silence has been broken and we have an official answer!

It looks like Rachel will live to see another day. When asked about her well-being, executive producer John Fawcett says, “She’s alive.” However, she’s definitely going to struggle with her new disability.

“How do you take someone like that and then f— them up?” Fawcett asks. “How do they respond to that? This is someone who has a ton of power, really, and thrives on [being above the other clones]. Now to be less than perfect and to have her authority and power stripped from her, that’s an interesting journey that character could be on this year.”

Out of all of the clones on the show, we’ve felt most comfortable with letting Rachel take the bullet. She is the least likable clone and the antagonist, after all. But after learning this new piece of information, we’ve started to get even more excited about what a living Rachel Duncan could mean for Sarah, Alison, Cosima and crew.

What do you think of Rachel coming back to ‘Orphan Black’?
