The Orphan Black second season finale just aired, and we’re still grieving. Check out our recap and let us know what you thought!

Search and Rescue

In the opening sequence, we see two things in two different timelines: Sarah surrendering to the DYAD and being asked a multitude of personal questions, juxtaposed by Sarah and Mrs. S. dealing with the fact Kira just got kidnapped, while Felix is feeling guilty for not knowing. Mrs. S wants to take him to get a toxicology test.
After the opening credits, Sarah is in handcuffs and in a dark interrogation room when a man walks in with paperwork. It’s the man who helped orchestrate the exams on her when she was sleeping back in season 1.

Meanwhile, Kira gets her cheek swabbed by a scientist who came into her DYAD room, and she manages to swipe her cell phone without her noticing and calls Cal.

Doctor Neily wants Sarah to sign a paper allowing them to harvest her eggs, and Sarah signs on the agreement that she will get to see Kira. They let her see her, but only through an observation window that looks into her new room. Rachel talks with Kira, and looks into the mirror that Sarah is looking through.

They also have Ethan Duncan in custody, and he’s watching a home video in Rachel’s theater. Rachel comes in and offers tea, but he brought his own. She asks why he won’t let them make another clone, and wants the key to her cipher. Before he could answer her questions, he starts stumbling and mumbling, as he poisoned himself with the tea he brought. She doesn’t want him to leave again, but he says she doesn’t deserve him.

In the next scene, a couple of men take Sarah on a gurney and into an operating room as they prepare to remove one of her ovaries. Scott is there, dressed as one of the surgeons. But Rachel walks in with a drawing Kira made, and it has a fire extinguisher on it.

Scott planted the extinguisher next to her operating table, and Sarah realizes what the clue was and manages to pull the plug on the extinguisher, which results in shooting a pencil at high velocity right through Rachel’s eye, just after she dropped all of the blood marrow Kira had given Cosima. Rachel falls on the floor, and Scott gives Sarah the card key and tells her to go.

Sarah manages to get to Kira’s room, and finds Miriam there as well. She’s from Top Side, and she says she opened the doors but this won’t end with Rachel. If Sarah wants to know what it’s all about, she has to meet with Miriam tomorrow.

Making a Plan

In Cosima’s office, the DYAD is taking bunch of Cosima’s equipment and say that her transplant has been booked per the orders of Doctor Neily, the same man interrogating Sarah, and Cosima’s new physician.

Meanwhile, Rachel is sending Delphine to Frankfurt for good; she’s not going to be working with the clones anymore. And she won’t let Delphine say goodbye.

Delphine sent Cosima Rachel’s itinerary, so now at least Cosima knows where Sarah will be. Cosima is with Kira, and she asks Kira if she wants to do some science. It’s a thing they planned ahead of time, and they show Cosima and Scott working on something similar to the science trick she teaches Kira. Scott doesn’t think it’s going to work, and shows her that he has a key card.

He’s a ghost

Mrs. S. is on the phone with someone who is talking about a car bomb, but explains it’s no one Felix needs to know. Cal shows up at her door telling her Kira called. He explains that he knows what’s going on, he figured it out.

Art calls, and tells Felix that Helena is at his apartment. Mrs. S. wants Felix to keep tabs on Helena, so he goes to Art’s apartment. Helena explains to them that she fell in love with Jesse, but she has no idea what happened to the Prolethan farm.

Cal explains that someone from the DYAD tried to hack him, so he hacked him back. That person knew about the clones, and Project LEDA, and knew he was Kira’s father. They start messaging with someone and ask for their help, and that person asks them about Castor. Apparently they aren’t the only people with an inside man.

Mrs. S. goes to a parking lot to meet with their mystery man, and a military grade van comes out along with four officers who frisk Mrs. S. before Paul gets out. He’s a Major now, apparently.

As they’re meeting, another party shows up in a limo. This time it’s Cal, and Paul goes into the limo he came out of to meet with Miriam. She can get Sarah and Kira out, but what happens after is up to Sarah. He hands her a file.

Clone Party

Sarah manages to get Cosima away as well, and they’re all at Felix’s place. They can’t do another bone marrow extracting for at least six weeks, and Felix shows up to bring Helena to meet her sisters.

In a heartwarming moment, Cosima hugs Helena and tells her she’s beautiful. Alison is also there, and she meets Helena. Helena mentions she wants to get married, too, one day. And then Kira runs up and hugs Auntie Helena.

Cosima puts on some music, and takes off her breathing tube and starts dancing. Cue clone dance party!

The morning after, Cosima and Sarah are bonding while Helena gets up and leaves (leaving a bucket of liquid nitrogen), and Sarah says she can’t do this without Cosima. Cosima says they have to keep moving forward.

As Helena leaves, she gets kidnapped and tased by two random men.

Project Castor

Sarah meets with Miriam at her house, while Kira goes to give Cosima to get her to read her a story.

At the house, Sarah is met by a child named Charlotte, who looks exactly like the little girl in Rachel’s home videos. She’s another clone, but she’s only eight. She’s Kira’s aunt. Miriam explains she adopted Charlotte, and there were over 400 attempts to make another clone and she’s the only survivor. Miriam explains that she’s going to tell Sarah something extremely precious:

She explains there are other companies like Top Side, and they’ve formed a monopoly on what they study. But there are other things behind this than profit, and Miriam couldn’t have done this without Sarah’s mother’s help. The military worked on their own male clones labeled Project Castor, while DYAD worked with female clones. Miriam takes her to look at one of them.

During story time, Kira gives Cosima the book Ethan gave her, and Cosima realizes all of the genetic keys are in there. YAY!

All of this is happening while Helena is transferred to a gigantic military plane, guarded by a man who looks exactly like Mark. Mark is the male clone. They also pan to a view of Mark getting married to Gracie.
