This post is either going to make a lot of people angry or people will generally agree with me. So be prepared.

There comes a point in television when writers stop caring about certain characters to focus on the more popular ones. I think Glee hit that point at the very beginning of the season. Darren Criss has become Glee.

Now, I love Darren to death, but it has gotten to the point where I don’t even want him on the show anymore. Whenever I listen to all the upcoming music on First Listen Friday and I hear his voice I think, “Well, Ryan Murphy is trying to earn a little extra cash yet again.” I absolutely loved season 2, when seeing Darren and the Warblers was a treat and I got very excited to watch him on television.

But now I feel as if writers Ryan Murphy, Ian Brennan, and Brad Falchuk are using Darren’s natural talent and his fanbase that he has from StarKid to get some extra viewers and sell a few more singles every week.

I’ve even grown tired of Darren’s acting. I’m not saying his acting is bad, but it just seems a bit off to me at times. Especially when half the time Blaine is either angry or just as happy as can be. It’s like there’s no middle ground. I think that comes from Darren’s background of being in theatre productions for nearly all his life. He loves the interaction of a crowd and I feel like he tries to portray that a little bit too much on the television screen. Even Darren has said it himself.

In the end though, I’ll buy whatever songs he sings because I want to support him. I’d just like to see a little less Darren and a little more of the rest of the cast.
