Looks like love is in the air for Alex Alvarez on One Day At A Time season 4!

Update (1/30/2020): Much about the plot of One Day At A Time season 4 has been kept under wraps, but the good news for fans is that showrunner Gloria Calderon Kellett has been offering up a few tidbits for us to savor as we wait for new episodes of the hit Latinx sitcom.

On Wednesday, Calderon Kellett took to Twitter to share that Andi Mack alum Raquel Justice has officially joined the cast of the series’ fourth season.

Her tweet also offered up some more information with regards to who Justice will be playing in forthcoming episodes.

“Papito gets a girlfriend this year!! Meet the lovely @raqueljustice01 playing Nora. Welcome Raquel to the familia!” tweeted Calderon Kellett.

In addition, she also shared a cute photo of Justice and Ruiz at a table read for the fourth season.

As fans of the show know all to well, Alex has a special bond with Abuelita, so we’ll be especially excited to see how Lydia deals with the fact that her Papito has got himself a girlfriend. We’re sure we’re in for some fun scenes between the three of them!

News of Raquel Justice’s casting comes hot on the heels of word that actor Ray Romano has also signed on to appear in One Day At A Time season 4.

One Day at a Time will (finally!) be back on our screens in a little less than two months thanks to PopTV, and it’s bringing guest star Ray Romano with it!

The season 3 premiere of One Day at a Time came absolutely stacked with guests, giving us Brooklyn 99’s Melissa Fumero and Stephanie Beatriz as cousins to the Alvarez family, and Gloria Estefan — the singer of the One Day at a Time anthem herself — as the sister to Rita Moreno’s Lydia.

The season 4 premiere may not have quite the same level of star power in terms of quantity, but it’ll still be opening up the season with a fun new face.

Entertainment Weekly revealed today that the season 4 premiere of One Day at a Time will bring in Ray Romano as a guest star. Romano will be playing Brian, a 2020 U.S. Census taker who visits the household to interview the family.

Though this will be the first time Ray Romano will be interacting with the members of the Alvarez family, it won’t be his first time working with co-creator and co-showrunner Mike Royce. Royce was the executive producer on Ray Romano’s former hit show Everybody Loves Raymond, and likewise was billed as the co-creator on Romano’s TNT dramedy Men of a Certain Age.

Ray Romano will join returning regular cast members Justina Machado as Penelope, Rita Moreno as Lydia, Isabella Gomez as Elena, Marcel Ruiz as Alex, Todd Grinnell as Schneider, and Stephen Tobolowsky as Leslie.

One Day at a Time is currently in production, with the first episode being filmed live in front of a studio audience on January 28.

One Day at a Time Season 4 will premiere on Tuesday, March 24, at 9:30/8:30c, following an all-new episode of Schitt’s Creek. The show will then move to 9 p.m. beginning April 14, after Schitt’s Creek has finished airing its sixth and final season.
