ABC has released a Once Upon a Time featurette in which Meghan Ory and creators Adam Horowitz and Ed Kitsis discuss Little Red Riding Hood (Ruby).

In the video, which was released on Once Storybrooke, we see some of Red’s most recent defining moments – namely when she meets and subsequently kills her mother.

Adam Horowitz says that, “There’s a tragedy to Red,” having this huge part of her which she has to tame and control. Meghan Ory adds that “Red eating her true love is a pretty traumatic thing,” which really changes her and robs her of her innocence. Kitsis talks about how Red has embraced that she’s a monster, and also how she still feels like an outsider.

They also talk about Red meeting her mother, and choosing her own family (Snow) over her.

Once Upon a Time just entered its winter hiatus, following last night’s spectacular “Queen of Hearts” episode. The show will be back on January 6 with the curiously titled “Cricket Game,” which we are all speculating will be Archie Hopper-centric!
