Once Upon a Time‘s Storybrooke handles yet another invasion in the season 6 premiere. What do the first few photos hint at for our heroes?

Concerned faces! Wreckage! Pongo! The first few photos from the Once Upon a Time season 6 premiere are here and they feature more than a few of our favorite details. Once returns on Sunday, September 25 and from what we see here, this scene is going to provide a bit of context for the latest threat to Storybrooke.

From Dr. Hopper’s return to the heroes’ examination of an aircraft hailing from The Land of Untold Stories, let’s break down what we think is going on in this scene from start to finish!

‘Once Upon a Time’ season 6, episode 1, ‘The Savior’

As the title of this episode suggests, the focus of season 6 will be on Emma and the mythology of the Savior. We already know, thanks to Comic-Con, that the first scene of the season will involve Aladdin and links his unfinished story to the Savior legend.

But for Storybrooke’s part, here is the first look at our Savior in her classic red armor examining the wreckage of one of the aircrafts. Presumably, she is alone at the site of the crash when she hears someone approaching her corner of the woods.

It’s okay, Emma! It’s only Dr. Archie Hopper, Storybrooke’s resident psychiatrist. That’s right, get reacquainted with Pongo! So, doc, what have you been up to?

Whatever it is, Emma is either not buying his excuse for roaming in the woods carrying two cups of coffee when the town is currently hosting a mess of new characters. Or maybe she is just angry that he disappeared when the entire town is clearly need of some extra-long sessions on his couch.

Archie definitely looks like he is hiding something. Mark my words he is up to no good. And with all the doctors ranging from Whale to Dr. Arthur Lydgate from Once Upon a Time in Wonderland returning for season 6, something is not right.

Naturally, the rest of the hero gang needs to examine the premises and offer their two cents on the situation. Look at the concern on their faces!

There is something they can’t quite put their finger on here. Flying ships, unless they use feathers from a pegasus, are a little out of Hook’s area of expertise, but he lends a caring expression or two for moral support.

Meanwhile, say hello to the new-and-improved Snow! After ditching her Storybrooke name last season, Snow is ready to track and brings her bow and arrow along for the hike. It does look like she is onto something that the others are not paying attention to just off screen.

Not to be outdone by Snow’s dive back into her old tracking methods, David worked on something over the summer break as well — his stance. Look at it:

It’s so majestic:

It even pulls focus when he is not the center of attention:

Good for you, David. You know what works for you and you stick to it.

Speaking of sticking to what works for everyone, Rumpel is up to what he does best — lurking in the back of the woods listening in on the heroes’ theories. When we left Rumpel he was on the side of Hyde working to get Belle back. Don’t forget this invasion is 95% his fault, 5% Storybrooke’s magical ability to lure danger.

Jekyll is on the side of the heroes for now, which will prove to be quite useful as he knows what is it like to share a mind and body with Hyde. Let’s hope his cowardice and fear of his counterpart does not inhibit his ability to remain on the light side.

Again, David? I can’t look away.

With one final image, we’ll leave you with the focus of the season — Emma Swan. Despite the gripping tale of the two estranged sisters becoming roommates, various guest stars popping by, and more Rumpel and Belle drama, the creators have made it clear that season 6 is the season of the Savior.

What does that mean? We’ll have to wait until season 6 begins to unfold to know for sure!

Once Upon a Time season 6, episode 1, “The Savior” airs on Sunday, September 25 at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
