Once Upon a Time season 6, episode 8 awards the top honor of Villain of the Week to someone who puts family first in the worst way.

Once Upon a Time‘s two major villains duke it out for the honor in “I’ll Be Your Mirror.” It turns out, for these two parents, that mommy and daddy don’t always know best.

You voted and now here are the results!

And the winner is…

The Evil Queen once again takes the crown for Villain of the Week in Once Upon a Time season 6, episode 8. And how could she not? She banished Emma and Regina to another dimension. She tried to manipulate Henry into killing an innocent person. Not to mention that she also knocked Hook out and left him unconscious on a beach!

The Evil Queen handles each move on her chessboard with style and grace. In some respect that makes admire her. But it also gives us all the more reason to fear her.

Best Interaction with a Hero

The Evil Queen is a master of setting herself up as a puppet master. During the scene where Henry holds the Hammer of Hephaestus she looms large over his shoulder giving the illusion that she is actually pulling strings.

Her interactions with Regina prove that they are always going to be on the same wavelength. This not only includes putting together each other’s plans before they can are carried out, but also underestimating those around them.

The Evil Queen believes she has Henry backed into a corner, but he proves her wrong, smashing the mirror instead of crushing the Dragon’s heart. She is defeated and undermined in one fell swoop.

Top 3 Evil Actions

  1. Forcing Henry to watch his mothers face their death
  2. Banishing Emma and Regina to the mirror universe
  3. Striking a deal with the Dark One without thinking things through

Question of the week: Is the Evil Queen capable of recognizing love?

At the close of “I’ll Be Your Mirror” something interesting happened in an exchange between Rumpel and the Evil Queen. No, not something romantic or gross like that. When Rumpel cashes in his half of their deal he requests that the Evil Queen kill her sister.

Upon hearing that the Evil Queen’s face noticeably drops. Why? Is it possible that in that moment she felt some sense of compassion for her half sister? She just spent the entire episode trying to have her son commit murder. Why is she now showing signs of kinship to another human being?

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that Henry condemned her to a life of loneliness. For all the wrong choices she made when dealing with Henry her intention behind it all was to bring him closer to her. Now that he is adamantly against her, Zelena is the only person left who has a shot at accepting her as family.

The Evil Queen is not incapable of feeling love, she is simply ignorant of its presence. It is likely that the Evil Queen will confuse caring about her sister for the power that her sister can provide her campaign against the heroes.

Honorable Mention:

Tip of the hat to the Rumpelstiltskin. Rumpel gives himself over the Dark One in “I’ll Be Your Mirror,” first by threatening to tether Belle to Storybrooke and then by putting a bounty out for Zelena’s head. Didn’t you get chills when he mentioned that stealing children was kind of his thing?

Season 6 proves that he is a villain through and through. Can any action redeem him? Probably not.

Let us know what you think of the Evil Queen taking the honor for the second week in a row and check back each week to vote for your favorite villain!
