Are you ready for Once Upon a Time to return from its annual (and quite cruel) winter break? “Tougher Than the Rest” hits ABC Sunday, March 5, and kicks off the second leg of an intense season.
As winter fades to spring, the creators and network left fans with more than a few teasers to tide them over. From the announcement of a musical episode to a sneak peak of a ring, it’s high time for Once to kick off!
There are plenty of obstacles for our heroes to overcome before they reach the musical or possible engagement stage. First, Emma and Regina are still loitering around an alternate universe. Once Upon a Time sets the second half of the season in motion right where we left off as the portal closes at Emma and Regina’s feet. Prepare for more Robin and Regina, Killian and David, and plenty of discussion about what it means to be a Savior.
After viewing the premiere, the sixth season’s return to a one-arc story (rather than the split seasons of many years past) feels right. There is no need to reset the story or quickly tie up loose ends. Capitalizing on this format, Once Upon a Time is finally letting its stories breathe.
