Mulan is heading back to Once Upon a Time this fall. Will she meet up with Aurora? Will she still have ties with the Merry Men? Find out here.

Jamie Chung will reprise her role as Mulan when Once Upon a Time season 5 returns. Chung was absent for the entirety of season 4 to work on the NBC series, Believe. The news comes to us from E! who reported that if and when Mulan ever returned to Once Upon a Time Chung hoped that the writers would find a way to give her a “full-blown romance to ‘sink [her] teeth into with that character.'”

In her last appearance on Once Upon a Time, Mulan left Aurora and Philip to enjoy their blissful marriage without her. Mulan took her broken heart and left to team up with Robin Hood and his Merry Men in the forest.

So what has she been up to since then? When the curse transplanted everyone back in Storybrooke, Robin Hood and Little John included, Mulan was no where to be seen. Perhaps Mulan will get her wish and find a partner when she makes her way to Storybrooke. Or perhaps she finds a way to help Emma and Merida in the Enchanted Forest! After all, she did have a few encounters with Lancelot ages ago.

Update (September 18): We attended a Q&A with the show’s creators and learned that they’re hoping to include a LGBTQ storyline in season 5. May it involve Mulan!?

Chung joins Meghan Ory and Sinqua Walls who will reprise their roles as Ruby and Lancelot respectively. Lancelot, though deceased in the current timeline, will return to help spin the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table. Expect to see him in the premiere episode!

Once Upon a Time season 5, episode 1, “The Dark Swan,” returns to ABC on Sunday, September 27 at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
