The hiatus is nearly over and it is time for Once Upon a Time to return to your Sunday night lineup! The first episode back will not let Storybrooke enjoy their newfound peace for too long as the Queens of Darkness rally in New York and begin their plan to fight for their happy endings.

But what have we missed over the long winter break? We have assembled all the crucial facts, tweets, casting announcements, and footage to get you ready for Sunday!

A sneak peek: How did the Queens of Darkness meet?

We were privy to see the Queens of Darkness working together during the winter finale, but they weren’t always in cahoots. With Rumple responsible for bringing them together in the first place, it seems only fitting that he gather them for one more adventure.

Casting: Old and new friends return

Unfortunately viewers will not be seeing Jamie Doran return anytime soon, but a boatload of special guests and new cast members are making their way to the Enchanted Forest and Storybrooke this season. Besides the wonderful ladies that make up the villainous trio, we have another wicked presence making a return. Zelena will return, but only in a flashback.

Speaking of flashback returns, Pinocchio, aka August, will return as his adult self. You may be wondering how the former wooden man turned real boy can suddenly grow back into an adult. Well, we can only assume that Eion Bailey filmed flashback scenes, unless something wacky is happening with the clock tower again in Storybrooke. You never know!

New characters are also set to make their debut this season. We have Poseidon as Ursula’s father, played by Ernie Hudson. Sebastian Roche will appear to play father to Aurora as King Stefan.

Finally, a peddler and a girl named Autumn with a knack for trouble are also joining the season 4 ensemble. Will Scarlett is looking to continue his story in the second half of the season after making the leap over from Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. Hopefully we’ll hear more witty one liners from the former knave.

So, what about that boarder?

Is Robin Hood lost forever? How are the Queens of Darkness and Rumple going to break into Storybrooke without their magic? There are certainly a lot of questions floating around the logistics of an invisible wall, but let’s start with the Evil Queen’s happy ending.

This is not the last we will see of Robin or Marian. Once Upon a Time will catch up with the couple in New York, but Regina’s is not ready to give up her happy ending with Robin just yet. After all there was that page that Robin found from the book!

Rumple has a few tricks up his sleeve to get the Queens of Darkness to clash with Regina on her search for the Author. The series will pick up six weeks after the Frozen departure as the residents of Storybrooke find a way to finally restore order to the tiny hamlet. However, that peace cannot last for long as another threat is on its way that will open the town up to yet another danger. Let’s hope it does not arrive in the form of a purple cloud.

What can we expect before the show?

A second Once Upon a Time season 4 special, titled, Once Upon a Time: Secrets of Storybrooke will air right before the premiere at 7:00 p.m. ET. Originally titled, “The Insider’s Guide,” the special will take a behind the scenes look at what goes in to making the world of Storybrooke come to life.
