Once Upon a Time jam packs every episode with as much action, exposition, and romantic glances as any fan can handle. So what do the creators have planned for tonight’s 2-hour special? We have compiled all the details ahead of tonight’s episode, “Smash the Mirror.”
The Snow Queen’s Agenda:
Last week, Ingrid made a deal with Gold; the ribbons from her sisters for the secret to his freedom. But what do those ribbons mean? Gold made a comment earlier in the episode regarding the power the love between sisters possesses. Perhaps Ingrid will use the ribbons to permanently bond her surrogate sisters, Emma and Elsa?
In a sit down with ET, Elizabeth Mitchell hinted that may be the case! But before we get that far, tonight’s episode will finally reveal the Spell of Shattered Sight. From the original tale, The Snow Queen, the spell has the power to manipulate the way people see the world by bringing out the darkness in everyone.
Mitchell describes the storyline staying, “it’s just very delicious. I say delicious and I don’t want people to think it’s a fun spell, because it’s terrifying and it’s really, really, really horrible. But at the same time it gave all of our beloved people some really incredibly fun stuff to play.”
Regina and the Snow Queen:
If you’re waiting to see these two together, don’t hold your breath! According to both Mitchell and Lana Parrilla, they are not each other’s problem. Regina has her own problems, what with Robin deciding to close the space between them as well as Operation Mongoose. Regina’s storyline has largely taken a backseat to the Frozen integration of the first half of the story arc. But fans will get a dose of Regina tonight!
Parrilla teases, “Regina is losing faith pretty quickly that she has any control over her destiny, that no matter what she does it doesn’t work out for her, and things just don’t pan out for her, and that’s a hard realization.”
And as for Robin? “We’ll also see something that I think the audience has been waiting for between Regina and Robin Hood. Something quite juicy. So I would just say that it may be frozen in Storybrooke but it gets a little hot and steamy in their life.”
Emma and Elsa Lose Control:
In the two clips released this week by ABC, Emma and Elsa’s magic becomes their enemy.
The first clip shows Elsa confronting Anna about her withholding information about their parents journey. But is she really angry with Anna or is it all a front?
In the second sneak peek, Emma’s magic is beginning to be too much for her to handle. A visit to Mr. Gold may be the answer to all of her problems.
