More casting news from the Once Upon a Time universe reveals a recurring character whose begging skills play a key role in season 4!

Make room for another member of the LOST family on Once Upon a Time! Reported last night, Patrick Fischler will join Once Upon a Time season 4 for a recurring role as a peddler. Fischler’s character is confirmed to appear in both Storybrooke and the Enchanted Forest portions of the season’s second story arc.

The casting description reads that the peddler, “comes across as well-intentioned but is actually a quick-witted, arrogant man with reckless impulses.” Sounds like this man will fit right in among some of Storybrooke’s residents!

It is also noted that the peddler, who will also be known as Gorin, plays a major role in the mythology of the show. Could he be connected to the author somehow? Since this is Once Upon a Time it also makes us wonder, is someone getting another branch added to their family tree?

You may recognize Fischler as the Stephen Colbert of the 60s from his role as Jimmy Barrett, in Mad Men‘s second season. His on screen persona gets the comic in trouble with the UTZ brand owners. After Mad Men Fischler went on to play Phil, a guard of the Dharma Initiative on ABC’s LOST.

Phil Fischler joins a few other new and old faces for once Upon a Time‘s spring session. Eion Bailey, who plays August, will make his return within the first few episodes. We also have appearances from King Stephon (Sebastian Roche) and Poseidon lined up to go head to head with the Queens of Darkness.

Any guesses for what the peddler might be up to on ‘Once Upon a Time?’

Once Upon a Time season 4, episode 13, “Darkness on the Edge of Town,” returns Sunday, March 1 at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
