Once Upon a Time will add and extra hour to season 4, and air a two-hour episode, “Smash the Mirror,” on November 16 for November sweeps.

ABC’s Once Upon a Time is one of the few shows remaining on network television that airs on a standard schedule. Opting to stick with a 22-episode season, 11 episodes air prior to a two month hiatus with 11 remaining episodes debuting in the spring. Today we learn that Once Upon a Time will add another hour to their fall docket with a special two hour episode on November 16.

Update: The episode will air from 8:00- 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 16, not at 7:00 as previously reported.

Are you excited? With an extra hour of footage added to the first arc of season 4, viewers will get to spend a little more time with the folks from Frozen before moving into the spring. There are quiet a few episodes coming up that seem to have a common theme, “Breaking Glass,” “Shattered Sight,” and “Smash the Mirror.” Are they all referring to Sydney Glass or perhaps the lore of the original Snow Queen’s origin story?
