The Once Upon a Time showrunners Ed Kitsis and Adam Horowitz speak in a new interview about the upcoming season 2 finale. Mild spoilers ahead.

D23 has released a very insightful interview with Kitsis and Horowitz where the creators reveal a bit more about the season 2 finale “And Straight on ‘Til Morning,” which airs May 12 on ABC.

Kitsis reveals that the finale will very much center around Greg and Tamara’s master plan and what the fallout of their actions will be.

He asks, “Who are Greg and Tamara, who do they work for, do they work for anyone, what’s their agenda?” Horowitz adds that in the finale, “we’re bringing all those things to a head in a way we find exciting, and we think hopefully will be really surprising to the audience as well.”

Kitsis also talks about the titles of the final two episodes, “Second Star to the Right” and “And Straight on ‘Til Morning,” which are obvious Peter Pan references, teasing that, “We are going to be finding out a bit about Baelfire, and Captain Hook. There’s no coincidence with those titles.”

There’s also a new character coming in, but that mystery will have to wait until season 3! Horowitz says, “In the final two hours, you will hear about someone, you will think about someone, but you won’t see that someone ’til next year.”

Could that be Peter Pan, since the showrunners are pretty adamant that it’s not Neal?

They also tease the return of Maleficent, and the arrival of new characters – possibly Ariel and Pocahontas.

And finally, Kitsis talks about the way the show has developed this year. He says, “The theme at the beginning [of the season] was: magic is coming. And the theme for the finale is: it always has a price.”

We can’t wait! Once Upon a Time returns this Sunday with 2×20 “The Evil Queen,” and after that, only the final two episodes remain! Any predictions?
