Once Upon a Time is already frustrating fans by keeping Snow White and Prince Charming from getting together. But what does Ginnifer Goodwin, Josh Dallas and executive producer Jane Espenson have to say about it?

Dallas, for one, is all for getting the two characters together. He tells TV Guide:

I would want nothing more for them to get together and live happily ever after, but that’s the nature of this curse. It’s a strong one.

Ginnifer Goodwin elaborates on why David and Mary Margaret need to be kept apart:

It’s the crux of the whole show. The curse was inflicted by the Evil Queen to punish Snow White and to keep her from her favorite part of life, which was her true love, so it is going to continue.

Jane Espenson also weighs in on the ailing romance, comparing the pair to Sam and Diane from Cheers and the infamous ‘Moonlighting curse’ (getting a couple together and killing the show), saying:

You [put them together] and it takes a lot of the air out of it. You’ve got to work very hard to keep the show going. So finding the right balance between what feels right and what the fans are asking for is the eternal tension. [But] I think people will ultimately be satisfied with where Charming and Snow are headed. The relationship will mean more because of the obstacles that they overcome.

Are they doing the right thing by dragging out the tension? Or are Mary Margaret and David being pushed a little too far apart?
