This week on Once Upon a Time in Wonderland the Knave’s tale recalls the way he found himself in Wonderland and more. Read on to find out all the dark secrets!

Once Upon a Time in Wonderland masters staying one step ahead of the audience, just as the characters on the show attempt to do the same. Luckily, for creators Katsis and Horowitz, the smart zig-zags in the plot set up the foundation for must-see television. This week, the Knave, or Will Scarlet as he was once known, continues to lament of love gone bad, but may reveal a reason why a one wish payment may be just enough.

The Merry Men: A few years ago, Will Scarlett joins Robin Hood’s band of Merry Men. Trusting in Will, Hood initiates him into the group with a blood oath. Before the men move forward from their camp, Will proposes that the men strike the Maleficent’s castle. Robin Hood makes a point to remind Will that the men steal from the rich in order to keep the balance of humanity. Will ensures Hood that there is a store of gold and that is all they will go after; no magic will be stolen. However, once Will returns to his cabin, he greets a faceless woman and promises her a quiet different plan.

Blood oath or not, Will returns to the Merry Men in the castle and informs them to divide and conquer. He takes a detour down a hall of enchanted objects. Back at the camp, the men celebrate their spoils of gold. Until the Maleficent interrupts and demands that another object taken from her castle be returned. For an evil sorceress, the Maleficent allows them to keep the gold and issues a warning to those who try to use the stolen.

Hood confronts Will and lets him go. Allowing him to walk away with the knowledge that stealing magic for a woman will catch up to him. Luck always runs out.

Dinner for Three: Jafar and the Red Queen invite Cyrus to a small gathering of the minds one evening. The evil duo flip through possible monsterous beasts to draw Alice into their clutches. When Cyrus flinches at the mention of the Bandersnatch, Jafar pays the monster a visit and sends him running to capture Alice.

Cyrus still has his wits about him, though. The Bandersnatch from Alice’s childhood is a creature that he extensively taught her how to fight. Jafar pays the Caterpillar a visit to discover that the Knave is due to return to the Underworld at any given moment. That is, if he holds his word.

It Takes a Thief: Alice may have the determination to gat Cyrus back, but the Knave has the know how. He leads Alice to the Underworld, a place for thieves and masked men, where a devious caterpillar reclines in a smoke-filled haze. The Knave knows how to sweet talk a deal and promises an enchanted rope called the Forget Me Knot to clear his name. The knot allows a person to see a particular moment in the past when held up to an area. Alice and the Knave hope to uncover who discovered Cyrus’ lamp.

The Caterpillar informs the pair that the knot was last seen with Grendel. Alice and the Knave fall into a bit of a bind. Once the pair wakes up, they realize that the Grendel uses the knot to hold onto the past life that he once experienced with his wife in their home. Reliving the memory over and over again, hinders his personal growth, or at least that is what the Knave tries to convince him of. The speech takes on the tone of a personal confession and Alice realizes the depth of the Knave’s wound left by Anastasia.

As the duo make a run for the door, another creature appears in their way; the Bandersnatch. Alice is able to what the Knave promised he could; stay one step ahead of the enemy. The Bandersnatch’s awful vision is the key to the successful escape. As a repayment for saving his life, Grendel offers up the knot to Alice and the Knave. It no longer holds the image of his wife, but instead the destruction of the Bandersnatch.

Back in the field of dreams, Alice and the Knave discover that the White Rabbit dug up Cyrus’ lamp and offered it to the Red Queen. It appears that seeing the image of the Red Queen sparks a new plan for the Knave. He decides that letting go of the power the knot and ensuring the Caterpillar cannot use it against anyone is best for everyone. He burns the rope before Alice asks to take a look into the past life of the Knave.

Viewers, however, are privileged to see the real reason behind Will’s guard against Anastasia. It turns out that the Red Queen, wore some lighter colors a few years before she enters Wonderland. Anastasia and the REd Queen are the same person!

Once Upon a Time in Wonderland returns in two weeks with an all new episode featuring a slightly less curly Jafar! What does the future hold for a Knave whose long lost love is now the Red Queen?
