Two Once Upon a Time in Wonderland characters are heading to Storybrooke in this week’s episode, “Heart of the Matter.” Now that the Knave is under the ownership of Jafar, it seems that nothing stands in the way of magical domination. However, the Knave’s heart, or lack there of, holds up Jafar’s master plan for the moment.
Thursday’s episode marks the appearance of Cora, the Queen of Hearts. Barbara Hershey will reprise her role in Wonderland in the years following Rumplestiltskin’s push through the mirror. Her time in Wonderland adds an interesting Easter egg for Once Upon a Time fans and may reveal a bit more about her stint in the bizarre land.
‘Heart of the Matter’ Synopsis
“Heart of the Matter” – Alice and Cyrus discover alarming information involving prisoners Jafar has under his control and changes their priorities. Meanwhile, the Red Queen is in critical danger and no one can help her except the Knave by surrendering information to Jafar that he’s been desperately seeking. In flashback, Anastasia is about to marry the King and strikes up a friendship with Cora that directly impacts Will. Cora also confronts Will resulting with him asking her for a shocking demand.
Are the Storybrooke cross-overs enough to help boost the steady viewership of ABC’s spin-off? Perhaps, but no word has been issued on the fate of Once Upon a Time in Wonderland‘s return next fall.
