The upcoming Once Upon a Time in Wonderland pilot has a surprising crossover with its parent series, although the two series take place in different time periods.

Earlier this week, ABC released the first official trailer for Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, the spinoff series of Once Upon a Time which begins airing in the fall of 2013.

The trailer revealed that Alice is plucked from Victorian era London and taken to a pre-curse Wonderland.

While of course this allows for plenty of crossovers with Once Upon a Time characters that we’ve seen journey to Wonderland in flashbacks (such as Cora and the Mad Hatter), Entertainment Weekly has revealed a surprising new connection between the two series.

Allegedly, the pilot of Wonderland will not begin in Wonderland, nor in London, but in Storybrooke! How? We have no idea.

Do you think Alice’s journeys to Wonderland and Neverland might cause her to appear in the modern world like Bae did, and she’ll show up in Storybrooke as an old lady?

Once Upon a Time in Wonderland will premiere this fall on ABC. It will air Thursday nights at 8/7c, while Once Upon a Time will remain in its Sunday night 8/7c timeslot.
