Storybrooke has, indeed, caught the Frozen chill of Elsa’s arrival. The season 4 promotional tagline, “Storybrooke has frozen over,” plays well with the promotional material that leaves an icy path behind Elsa’s walk through town.

The premiere will focus on the introduction of Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, and the slew of Frozen characters slated to appear in the first story arc of season 4. The official synopsis gave us a bit more insight to how their stories will pan out in the first few episodes.

In a familiar move for Once Upon a Time Elsa’s flashbacks will reveal that “Anna wants to complete their parents’ fateful journey and discover if their quest may have held the secret to containing Elsa’s out of control ice powers.” Anna and Elsa’s relationship is one that drew creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis to the story.

Elsa’s arrival in Storybrooke will force her to create a “powerful snow monster” in order to protect herself from the unknown. You can imagine how this will play off to some of Storybrooke’s tired residents.

After a year of battling wicked witches, flying monkeys, and a prepubescent boy (related to nearly everyone!) the last thing they want to face is a scared young girl with magical snow powers. Especially when they each have their own problems to work through.

Don’t forget! You can catch up on all the action from season 3 of Once Upon a Time on Netflix. ABC will also air the season 3 finale, “There’s No Place Like Home” Sunday, September 21 at 8:00 p.m.

Once Upon a Time season 4, episode 1, “A Tale of Two Sisters” premieres Sunday, September 28 at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC
