David Anders, who plays Doctor Frankenstein on Once Upon a Time, has signed on to star in Necessary Roughness.

David Anders of Alias, The Vampire Diaries and most recently Once Upon a Time fame has booked an arc in season 3 of USA Network’s Necessary Roughness.

TV Guide writes that the actor will play the recurring character Troy Cutler. He joins the series alongside John Stamos, and will be playing Stamos’ character Connor’s second-in-command.

“Having sacrificed his personal life for his career,” TV Guide writes, “Troy gets satisfaction by getting his hands a little dirty for the company — something that doesn’t sit well with Dr. Dani (Callie Thorne).”

The third season of Necessary Roughness will premiere this summer.

Meanwhile, last night’s episode of Once Upon a Time marked the beginning of yet another hiatus. The show will return on April 21 with the episode “Lacey,” the 19th episode of season 2.

A pilot for a potential Once Upon a Time spinoff series set in Wonderland is currently in production, and we recently reported that Once writer Jane Espenson will assist Adam Horowitz and Ed Kitsis in getting this project off the ground.

If the pilot is picked up, we could be looking at a 13-episode season, which would fill in the gaps of Once Upon a Time‘s airing schedule.
